micah and carter… part 2

i wanted to take a second to mention a few great foundations micah and carter decided to incorporate into their big day.

all the women in the bridal party wore beautiful handmade jewelry they purchased from an organization called servlife. check out the website… by purchasing this jewelry and other products you are helping provide viable economic alternatives for the oppressed, and for survivors of sexual exploitation, as well as helping to empower local indigenous communities.

instead of clinking champagne glasses to get a kiss out of these two, micah and carter had guests make a donation to autism speaks. once guests made their donation they got to ring a bell signaling a smooch. i thought it was a great idea :o )

here’s just a couple ideas to give a creative, selfless touch to your wedding day, all the while making a difference.

immeasurably more than all i could ask or imagine…

so… i am officially ENGAGED!! AHH!! geoff proposed to me this past friday while we were having a picnic at one of my favorite places ever…the IMA gardens. the crazy thing is that i woke up that morning and i knew he was going to ask me to marry him. i have no idea why, but i just knew haha. my suspicions were confirmed when he arrived at my house acting all awkward and nervous :o ) he had been planning this picnic on this day for weeks. he had carefully hidden the ring in the picnic basket…which i overlooked twice! finally, he pulled the ring out of the basket and got down on one knee…and the rest is history :o )

we met just nine months ago and it has been the most amazing ride of my life. driving home from our first date, i called my mom and told her i was going to marry him. i was in love that first day :o ) he is my best friend… everything and so much more than i have ever hoped and prayed for. i am constantly reminded of god’s amazing goodness when i think of how he so faithfully provided this perfect match for me :o )

ahhh it’s all still sinking in… :o ) and the big question everyone keeps asking… “who is going to photograph YOUR wedding?!”

anyways, here’s a few of my favorite pictures of the two of us…plus some pictures from the day we got engaged :o )

pulse + other fun stuff…

ok, so i’m a bit behind in the blogging process… but man has it been a busy month so far! between weddings and plenty of other photo shoots, i just moved back downtown into a new house and i’ve been workin super hard getting my new office together :o ) pics of that coming soon! also for the past couple of months, i’ve been working with pulse creative partners on some new branding ideas along with a new fancy blog… definitely be checking back for that! i’m very excited about it all :o ) i met up with the awesome people at pulse the other day to get a few shots of their very cool space…check those out below. they are also part of the south side gallery hop, so make sure to stop by and check it out. currently they have several works by john strickland displayed. anyways, just filling you in on what’s been going on in my world :o ) check back for a very special update soon…. :o )

my new thing…

well, in my attempts to be heathly[er] and get more green stuff in my life… i’ve discovered a cheap and easy snack. edamame :o ) it’s so easy, you just boil water and cook for 5 minutes, then add a splash of olive oil, toss some salt in there…and i like to add some red pepper for an extra kick :o ) its better than popcorn! anyways, just thought i’d share my new obsession with you! !

colorado :o)

Well, its day 2 here in Colorado. i came out here to photograph a darling little family and it has been a blast so far. today we drove from Denver through Boulder and Estes on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park. its so lovely here! the weather has actually been in the 40’s and 50’s! SO, here’s our adventure so far. the big shoot with Branden, Bethany, and baby Conner happens tomorrow at Red Rock. very pumped for that :o ) check back soon!

LOVE this….!!

on our way back from the rockies we passed this beautiful field in front of the foothills. the lighting was perfect…so we had a little impromptu photo shoot :o )

becca (who you may notice from previous posts…) makes such a wonderful model, don’t you think :o )

the lighting was so yummy i even got behind the camera…. scaryy :o P

on our way to Estes…

this would be Estes…a cute little mountain town with fabulous, unique shops all over
